ticket sales

1. Irzing Azoff is the CEO of ticketmaster entertainment. The music business is struggling during the recession and he believes if ticketmaster and live nation merge it will reduce the number of middlemen between artists and fans.
2. The rise of online ticketing sites, brokers, and resellers means that fans are often paying more to attend concerts but artists and venues aren't seeing any additional revenue.
3. Ticketmaster is being challenged by online ticket services such as stubhub who scalp tickets at much higher prices than ticketmaster. Live nation has also evolved into a large concert promoter and venue operator.
4. By doing this they cut out all the middle men and sold their albums directly to walmart then to the fans which gave them a substantial greater income than if they did it the traditional way.

Scam Season

1. Now crooks are singling out secific targets, a tactic called spear phishing. The use of text messages is another fairly new tactic. Scammers are sending out phony emails and putting up fake web siters pretending to be banks, mortgage service providers or even government agencies. Their grammar has started to better over the years also.
2. The scammers are faking the caller IDs of banks and other businesses in telephone phishing scams. The phone ID bears the name of a real company.
3. Yes. Mainly on my email they have sent me make money easy and ads like that.
4. I would tell them to not give their personal information up front and to not click advertisemnets on websites.
5. First, A spam from CBP Assistant Commissioner, Thomas S. Winkowski, is currently being circulated using the name and reputation of a federal government official. The spam e-mail indicates the CBP has stopped a diplomat who is carrying a consignment to be delivered to the recipient's residence. PG. 360 1-6

1. Direct investments include single family houses, duplexes, apartments, land, and commercial property. Indirect investments include real estate syndicates, real estate investment trusts, high risk mortgages, and participation certificates.
2. The advantage is that if you want to invest in real estate but you can't afford it you can invest in an indirect real estate investment which will have a trustee appointed to hold legal title to the property on behalf of you.
3. The disadvantages of direct and indirect real estate investments is that the housing market my go down and you will lose money. Management of the real estate is also a problem when it comes to fixing up and maintaining upkeep.Illiquidity is a disadvantage sense houses cannot be turned into cash quickly. Lastly there is a lack of diversification sense properties are expensive.
4. A similarity is that all help you to buy real estate that you may not of been able to afford. A difference is that investing in a syndicate is mostly organized as a limited partnership while a reit and pc are similar to mutual fund. Another difference is that syndicates and reit's can be more risky than pc's.
5. I could tell them that they are risk free mortgages that have been purchased by the government. I would tell them that they can purchase them from ginnie mae, freddie mac, fannie mae, or sallie mae.
6. Purchasing a home is a good investment sense home prices have risen over the years and you have a lot of control over what to do with the home.. Having mortgages provides tax benefits. Commercial properties produce rental income. Buying just land can provide great income or can be very risky. With a syndicate your investment will be diversified but you will only be liable for the amount you have invested. REIT's are similar to mutual funds and you may invest in a equity, mortgage, or hyprid REIT.PC's are risk free but you have little control.

Section 9.1 questions 1-4, 6

1. Companies issue common stock to raise money to start up their bussinesses and then to help pay for ongoing activities.

2. They purchase common stock to make money in three different ways. They profit when they receive dividendsm, when thethe dollar value of their stock appreciates, and when the stock splits and increases in dollar value.

3. Preferred stock is considered a safer investment than common stock. People who want a steady source of income often buy preferred stock.

4. The management belives that the stock should be trading within an ideal price range. If the market value is higher than this range, a stock split brings the market value back into line. The lower price also attracts more investors. The public also believes that when a stock splits the company is very good financialy.

Table for Zero

As the economy suffers so does the restraunt business. Fewer customers are going out to eat and the customers the businesses do have are ordering cheaper meals. This decrease in profits is forcing owners to lay off employes and even in some cases closing the business. This is really hurting the hispanic immigrant population that rely on the industry for entry-level work. In my opinion is that it will hurt college students sense many students have waitressing jobs while going to school.

Small Business Administration

The Small Business Administration was created on July 30, 1953. This administration was created from many different predecessor agencies to respond to the effects of the Great Depression and World War 2. Many small businesses were left in the dust during the war because big corporations could create war machines much faster. Small businesses were unable to compete with the big businesses.
The Small Business Administration aids, counsels, protects, and assists small businesses. It also promises a business a fair proportion of sales of surplus property and government contracts. Since it was created SBA has given to small businesses twenty million loans, contracts, loan guarantees, counseling sessions, and other assistance.
The SBA regulates small businesses. Some people believe that big businesses are more efficient than small businesses. The problem with getting rid of small businesses is they make innovations. Most of small businesses produce items that are in our houses, shops, and museums. They also employ many workers.

Sudden Impact

"Sudden Impact" is an article about Esther Phiri, a woman boxer from Zambia. She grew up poor and had no way to support her job unless she acquired sponsors. Zambia is poor enough to where corporations nor the government can afford to sponsor athletics. Finally the general manager of national milling decided to sponsor one of Phiri's fights. She won and national milling signed a two year contract with Phiri. Now Phiri is a famous boxer and National Milling is also popular.

My opinion is that she deserves what she got sense she had to work hard to get there. National Milling made a great decision to sponsor her. She should win more fights and when her contract expires make a deal with a corporation with more money.

What Country's Economy Other Than Ours Suffered the Most?

The Weimer Republic of Germany suffered the most during the depression, as America's loans sent to aid in rebuilding the German economy now stopped. Unemployment skyrocketed, especially in larger cities, and the government steered toward extremism. Repayment of the war actions due by Germany were delayed in 1932 following the luassane conference of 1932. Germany had repaid 1/8th of the debts. Hitler came to power in January 1933. In 1934 the economy was still not stable enough for Germany to work on its own.
